Request for proposals for healthy choices radio Programme

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is an international development agency that promotes the rights of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity through programs in Population and Development, Reproductive Health, and Gender.

The 7th Government of Uganda/UNFPA Country Programme is supporting the promotion of gender and reproductive health and rights and has prioritized community mobilization for individual and social change as the main strategy to empower communities and individuals. The

"Health Choices Radio Programme" has been developed as one of the mechanisms for community mobilization as well as having it linked to functional Village Health Team structures in the 8 UNFPA supported grant receiving districts of Oyam, Yumbe, Kanungu, Mubende, Katakwi, Moroto, Kotido and Kaabong. The main objectives of the Healthy Choices Radio programme are:

1. To strengthen capacities of radio presenters and VHT facilitators in delivery of quality and consistent messages on 5 key selected topics on teenage pregnancy and maternal care, family planning access, STI / HIV prevention, Reproductive rights, GBV prevention and management.

2. To develop a community mobilization and communication programme that links the radio programme with community conversations/dialogue on issues discussed on the radio programme;

3. To regularly monitor the performance of the programme and propose midstream adjustments to improve the quality and coverage of the radio programme and community conversations.

In order to achieve the above objectives, UNFPA seeks the services of experienced institutions, NGOs, or private consultancy firms to provide consultancy works for the Healthy Choices Radio Programme.

a) NGOs, private consultancy firms or other institutions with the required qualifications and experience to undertake the above requested consultancy work should submit their proposals by email to procureug@unfpa.org or by post (hard copies) to "The Representative, United Nations Population Fund, Plot 12A Baskerville Avenue, Kololo, P. O. Box 7184, Kampala - Uganda

b) Technical and financial proposals should be submitted as separate documents.

c) Proposals must reach UNFPA offices by 4 pm on Thursday September 09, 2010.
