BMD pledges to mobilise cash for sacked Govt workers

BMD vice-president and Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Botsalo Ntuane, told Mmegi in Gaborone yesterday that this decision was taken during an executive committee meeting held over the weekend,  They will lobby other opposition partners to write to President Ian Khama demanding that the three percent salary increment awarded to civil servants be distributed in a pyramid form. His party, he added, also proposes that the increment be extended to Cabinet members, Members of Parliament (MPs) and councillors. Further to that for all opposition MPs and councillors to donate their salary increment, for a certain period, "subject to agreement with Botswana Federation of Public Service Union (BOFEPUSU), to a Benevolent Fund to assist all civil servants dismissed for participating in the public sector strike of 18th April-13 June 2011," he said.
